IMPROMPTU FRONT PORCH PARTY

It was Friday evening.  The weather was pleasant.  We felt like a having a porch party.

A quick trip to the neighborhood wine shop ...

Miss Magnolia tries "Mama's beer".....

and likes it !

Miss Magnolia loves a party and, apparently, hard cider too.

MISS MAGNOLIA LOVES A PARTY

Friday evening we hosted an impromptu gathering of friends.

A clean tablecloth and a quick trip to the wine and cheese shop and we are set.

No pre-party dusting or vacuuming required at this construction site.

An eager hostess awaiting her guests sets the tone of the affair.

Hats, coats and scarves are highly recommended in an unheated space this November evening.

Miss Magnolia LOVES a party but not wine.

STRESS FREE RIDE

My wedding anniversary is around the corner and, little did I know, I needed a new bike.   It arrived early and we have been taking advantage of the nice weather with rides to local restaurants for dinner.

My bike is the red one

and a trip to the neighborhood beer and wine store, Once Upon A Vine for the weekend's provisions.

Wide streets with little traffic make for a stress free ride

Returning home

Anyone up for a porch party?

HAPPY BIRTHDAY WALLACE!

Wallace turns 50 today.  We celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary in May.  We have just bought a 100+ year old house.  Poetry....of sorts.

Eagerly and enthusiastically we pack the car and drive to Hawthorne Avenue.  The previous night's party is only slightly evident.  There is beer, wine, soda and bottled water to last 2 weeks or more which is a nice perk.

The work begins.  A magnolia is trimmed back to allow a dumpster to be delivered.

The side porch gets cleared off, and the kitchen cabinets and appliances are removed revealing unimagined filth.  I decide to prune bushes and clear out brush instead.  My stomach will settle eventually, I hope.
