CURVE APPEAL

I took this photo today and thought I would quickly share it.  It is beautiful to me for several reasons.

1. It is the only wall original to the house we kept in tact.  Donnie repaired the plaster.

2. The picture molding was missing from much of the house upon purchase back in 2011.  We replaced the lost and damaged molding throughout the house and found a fabricated rubber molding to match the wood so we were able to span this original curved wall.

3. This color (Benjamin Moore's Buxton Blue) on the walls of my future bedroom  is peaceful.

PRETTY IN PINK

I've been doing a bit of shopping (not yet buying) for fabrics to finish some rooms.
Fortunately for me, several fabric stores in the area are having significant summer sales.

MORE COLORS ON HAWTHORNE AVENUE

The painters have just about finished inside the house.  Yesterday was the last day they could be inside the house since floor refinishers started today.  There is a bit left to do but for the most part, color is complete.  Take quick tour of several rooms...

1//2 bath awaits wallcovering above chair rail

Classic gray looks good on Michael's walls

A pale gray on the music room walls

The dining room easily handles the Berrywine ceiling and Fennel Seed wall colors

Revere pewter and Snowfall white frame the old brick nicely

Pale yellow in the kitchen will make for a cheery morning

COLOR MY WORLD

Here is just a taste of the color that is beginning to show over on Hawthorne Avenue...

A peek in through the front door (dining room ceiling on right - Berrywine)

Library fireplace ( Gray Owl  and Snowfall White )

The neighbor's house just went from white to a peaceful green

Studio side lights are installed and sun streams through

PICTURE MOLDING

Things are coming together.  Everything is primed, much of the trim has final coats, and colors should be going up in the next week! The fireplace brick is repaired and the picture molding is installed.  It makes me smile to have come this far.

I'M DREAMING OF A....

Music room trim color

We've had miserably hot temperatures here in Virginia topping previous record highs in July.  So hot that not much has happened on Hawthorne Ave this past week.  Wallace and I took the day off  all day yesterday and puttered around Warren Road packing a few boxes but mostly trying not to move too much.

Looking at the can of Music room trim cools me off a bit.

Meteorologists suggest the local temperature will drop up to 20 degrees.  Let's hope!

IT'S A TOUGH JOB, BUT SOMEBODY'S GOTTA DO IT

I'm loving the painters!

What an awesome slogan on their van..."We make it happen."  And it is true!

They work steadily, pleasantly and competently.

And this is a BIG job with lots of repetition
(250 large balusters to be exact).

It is almost time for color to go up inside!

WALK-THROUGH

This morning I did a walk-through with the contractor who is overseeing the new construction and HVAC and electric in the house.  Our list was 3 typed pages long...quite a hairy beast consisting of moving electric boxes inches forward or back, construction of walls, reimbursements of wood, pouring concrete for a HVAC pad which was done improperly, gluing and screwing sheet rock, adding a motion spotlight, and more!  Most fortunately, but as it should have been, it was all agreed to by the contractor.

Before I left, after 2 1/2 hours of  consultation, the house on Hawthorne Avenue was abuzz with workers readying the space for the sheet rock hanging to commence TOMORROW !

It is very exciting to think we will soon have separate rooms once again.  By this time next week we should be ready to have the painters do some work not only outside (the weather here is promising 60 degrees) but also inside priming.

Here's a thought.....
